Information Technology
The course aims:
i To give students an advanced understanding of and competence with, the hardware and software available and/or needed for the development and use of computer systems;
ii To educate at postgraduate level graduates from non-computer science related disciplines in the specification, design and creation of software-based systems customized for specific tasks and applications;
iii To produce Masters graduates possessing awareness, knowledge and practical skills in one of the modern computer science specializations (networking, multimedia, artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, software engineering, database management systems). By the end of the course the students will have acquired advanced critical and evaluative perspectives of this discipline, together with analytical and creative problem solving abilities;
iv To develop the students' professional attitudes and the interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills required by a practitioner in industry.
Admission Requirements:
Candidates must have one of the following
A first degree with at least Second Class from an accredited university in any of the following areas:
- Computer Science
- Information Technology/Information Communication and Technology
- Business Information Technology
- Mathematics
- Engineering
Candidate will have to pass and Entrance Examination in various subject areas in Computer Science and will also have to pass an interview before admitted.
Students with weak computer science background, especially in programming, may be required to take extra courses as may be deemed necessary by the Department.
